Local Hero: Faith of the Beyond Cultural Limits Foundation

About the Local Hero

Faith, from the Maasai village of Tikoishi in Kenya, escaped Female Genital Mutilation at 15 and pursued education, which is a rare opportunity in her community. Inspired by her experience, she began advocating for girls’ rights, raising awareness about FGM, and promoting education.
When a three-year drought devastated her village, causing hunger and school dropouts, Faith founded the Beyond Cultural Limits Foundation to support vulnerable children, empower girls, and build a better future for her community.

Vission and mission

The foundation's vission is a thriving, inclusive, and resilient community where every person has access to opportunity, education, and a sustainable future, with the mission of to promoting sustainable livelihoods through community development, uplifting communities and empowering women and girls.

The project

As Gender2Connect, we work together with Faith and her foundation, and help her set up a 5-Years Plan for a Permaculture Farm Set-Up. This plan addresses a variety of goals, including (water) infrastructure, zoning, tree planting, nursery development, a food forest, and community outreach and training.
